What is the PageRank?

PageRank

PageRank is really a link analysis algorithm used by Google to help determine the relative importance of a website. Though some websites might have very high PageRanks for their homepage, other pages on their site might have a reduced PageRank. Focus on the specific page that will be linking to you when it comes to how good a site's PageRank actually is.
Every website is given a Google PageRank score between 0 and 10 on an exponential scale. The number of PageRank 10 domains, including wordpress.org, Twitter.com and Facebook, have the greatest level of inbound links of any sites on the web. PageRanking takes time and efforts. The very best sites set the bar, so to speak, and the 10-point scale plummets exponentially down from there. Google.com and Facebook.com are PR 9. PageRank 5 websites have a good portion of inbound links, PR 3 and 4 sites have a reasonable amount, and completely new websites without the inbound links pointing for them start at PageRank 0.
Since PageRank is only one reason in the Google ranking algorithm, it's important to remember that the high PageRank doesn't guarantee high rankings – but it can significantly help.
